Mustang Project

Vehicle is a 1966 Mustang, 289 V-8 w/Automatic trans.
We are going to Install a
Street Rod Engineering IFS and
later, change the rear end and brakes.

Pictures show the Mustang in stock condition. Notice the  high shock 
towers which are part of the unitized chassis construction.

Remove the front suspension, engine, and the front body parts.

Cutout the front spring towers and old engine mount. Picture on left shows the
place to cut but you will be able to see where the tower is welded to the inner
body panel. We used a plasma cutter but you can use about any kind of cutting
tool. Picture 2 shows the outside of the tower. After cutting out the tower metal
you can grind or use an air chisel to remove the remaining metal including the 
flange left on the outside of the frame.
Caution do not cut the frame.

New crossmember installed.
